Hello summer!

Humans. We’re never happy with what we have. We’re like little children who always want to play with the other kid’s toy. When it’s winter we want summer, when it’s summer we pray for winter (or at least autumn).

We’ve got this picture on the doors to our office to remind everyone that IN HERE ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY COMPLAIN ABOUT WEATHER! πŸ™‚

Even the news channels won’t shut up about it: the TV presenter with an anxious face expression informs us every single day that after three days of rain showers and mild temperatures we should brace ourselves – another heat wave is coming! Not to mention phrases like: “it seems like the weather has gone crazy”, “nobody was expecting this years’ summer to be this hot”, or “be patient, only two more weeks and the temperatures will finally drop”.

Tell me again what’s this panic about? This is the summer you wished for in January! This is exactly what you longed for in mid March when the winter seemed to be never-ending.

Well, you know what they say: grass is always greener on the other side.Β

And the grass indeed is always greener in the summer!Β And flowers are everywhere. Everything is more beautiful. Why nobody mentions that?!

And it’s my favourite “free the toe season”. Poor toes. Suffocating in all those boots. Now they can breathe πŸ™‚

And I can “walk” my guinea pig whenever I wish. Juicy, crunchy grass is good for both of us.

Summer rain. These two combined together is pure bliss. It’sΒ all the more special because it’s rare (at least here).

And the best part about summer? All the tasty fruit and veg that I love to gorge on a lot!

Happy summer (winter, if you live down under πŸ™‚ ) to all!

  1. You have a guinea pig! I think they’re so cute, but I’ve never known anyone who had one for a pet. The only one I’ve known was a mascot for the police department in a small Texas town. His name was Spud, because he was about the size and shape of a baked potato — and he was white, with brown spots.

The flowers are beautiful — and love those foods. Our peaches are in, and I’m going to freeze more tonight. Yum!

    • Yeah, they’re very cute πŸ™‚ Mine is called Eddie and she’s a girl, but we didn’t know that when we got her and thought she was a boy hence the name πŸ™‚ She’s an old lady now, almost 6 years old!
      Happy Texas summer to you!
